Small Wedding, Big Style, Featuring Sarah Foy Couture

Ideas

This beautiful editorial, art directed by Amber of Styled By Amber, and that took place at The Mayson Hotel in Dublin, Ireland in the summer, features the glorious modern floristry of Love My Dress recommended supplier, The Wild Bunch.

There are intimate, modern, city wedding vibes aplenty within these images, which feature designs by Sarah Foy Couture, my favourite of which is the short swing bridal dress and pleated veil. Photography by Aoife O’Sullivan and words by Amber follow.

The Wild Bunch + Follow

“Micro weddings have never been bigger, and I wanted to go big on style with this editorial. A hip, mid-century venue, three bespoke, modern bridal looks and a dramatic retro vibe.”

“I sought to show through these images how even if your wedding is small in size, it is still very possible to have a stylish, fun celebration.”

“Bridal designer Sarah Foy Couture created three distinct looks for the shoot, all with a cool modern edge.”

“A beautiful sleeveless smock dress with drop hem and low back is beautifully accessorised with a hand-embellished sequinned veil.”

“A stunning retro-inspired mini dress with hand stitched pearl neckline is offset by an amazing two tier tulle veil with pleated edge and a classic full-length gown with silk-buttoned back is given a modern (and festive) edge with a glittering sequin bomber jacket.”

“Sarah McCann created the make up looks for the shoot featuring dewy skin, highlighted natural features, a strong lip and sparkle across the eyes.”

“Noeleen Cunningham created the hairstyles which enhanced Marwa’s natural hair texture and delicate hand-made jewellery from One Dame Lane in Dublin provided the perfect finishing touches.”

“Taking our cues from the impossibly cool, hip, mid-century-style surroundings at The Mayson, the event space at this new Dublin city venue provided the perfect backdrop for our moody wintery tablescape.”

“Ditsy floral napkins add some whimsy against the deep forest velvet table cloth.”

“Stoneware plates in a dusky pink are layered onto rattan chargers which provide another nod to the mid-century era decor.”

“Natural arrangements of beautiful roses in ombre pinks created by Tina at The Wild Bunch add romance and pack a punch.”

“The arched menu idea was inspired by the mid-century arch shape again adding a subtle nod to the setting.”

“Designed and crafted by Deirdre at Last Colour Down featuring a beautiful tactile forest green menu card with gold foil lettering and a quirky round place card that doubled as a drinks coaster.”

“For the ceremony, we wanted to create a dramatic setting with an over-the-top fluffy pampas-lined ‘aisle’. Every couple deserves to feel that ‘butterflies-in-the-stomach’ feeling as they make their entrance, no matter how many guests. And my God, did Tina deliver.”

“The modern fault-line blush buttercream cake featuring gold foil was created by Laura at Colhoun Creations and complements the fun and edgy vibe for the shoot.”
